How To Buy Cat Toys

How to buy cat toys may seem like a no-brainer topic, but don't be fooled ...it's not! There are several things to consider when you buy cat toys for your kitty, the most important of which is safety. Enjoy this page of wonderful interactive toys for cats, but please read my tips about keeping cats safe with any toys and objects in general.

Far too many cats have died or have had to have emergency surgery due to swallowing parts of toys. The culprit can be almost any part of any toy, but the most common one seen is anything that is "string-like".

Danger can be lurking in a long, thin mouse tail or a piece of string or yarn attached to any object. While long, linear objects can cause problems more quickly if swallowed, even feathers, pieces of fabric, or a cat toy mouse head can lodge in the stomach or intestines, causing partial or full obstruction.

How then, you may be wondering, can you buy cat toys that are safe? The truth is, there's almost nothing that is 100% safe if the cat is left alone with it.

Experience has taught me how to buy cat toys. Unfortunately, some very sad experiences. You can keep your kitty safe, however, if you follow a few tips.

First of all, keep safety foremost in your mind when selecting your kitty's play things. There are some wonderful unique cat toys on the market these days and you can allow your cat to enjoy them. However, many of them should only be with your kitty under supervision. Again, anything with a long linear piece of string or yarn or ribbon attached to it should be put away when you're not playing with your cat.

                                Catnip Flippers™
                                            $4

If I had to choose the best cat toy for cats, it would be round, too large to be swallowed, one-piece, and be made of plastic or rubber or something other than fabric so it wouldn't be chewed. There are an assortment of colorful ball-type toys that fit into this category perfectly.

I am not suggesting large balls are the only toys a cat should have. On the contrary, I strongly recommend others that cats find absolutely delightful, but advise putting them away when you are not observing your cat.

The interactive cat toys on this page from Go! Cat Go! are wonderful for your cat and include some that are safe to be left alone with your kitty and some that should be used with supervision. I enthusiastically recommend all of them. They are colorful, unique, interactive, and quite obviously designed with careful thought to the feline personality.

Just be sensitive to these and all toys and, in fact, anything lying around the house as to whether your cat should be supervised when around them.

Cats deserve to have toys designed to move like they do: quietly, stealthily, quickly and effortlessly. Go! Cat Go! interactive cat toys are made to let cats be cats, allowing them to jump, pounce and chase their prey, keeping them busy and positively engaged with the world around them!
